Ever wanted to try backpacking? Join the Trailblazers on an overnight backpacking adventure at Big South Fork especially designed for new backpackers. Learn important backpacking skills, such as how to filter your water, cook over backpacking stoves, and set up backcountry camp using only what you carry on your back. On the way, you will see some gorgeous views, including Kentucky's highest waterfall, and experience some of the best of Kentucky's forests. Total trail distance is 9 miles of easy to moderate trail over two days. The trip will be lead by two members of the Trailblazer Team, experienced backpackers with full Wilderness First Aid certifications. Some backpacking equipment is available to borrow from the Trailblazers for those that don't have their own. Open to 6th to 12th graders and registered adults.
