Camp Judy Layne
Camp Judy Layne is 183 acres nestled in Eastern Kentucky in Morgan County. It is surrounded by the Daniel Boone National Forest and just a few miles from Cave Run Lake. We offer weeklong and 3-day overnight camp (summer overnight camp) during the summer, weekend adventure opportunities and self-direct activities. The overnight capacity at this camp is 154.
Directions
Directions from I-64: Take Exit 133 towards Farmers, then follow 801 to 1274, then left at 2023 Camp Judy Layne Road and camp will be at the end of the road.
Camp is approximately 77 miles from the Lexington Service Center.
Camp Cache
The Camp Cache is the gold award project by Mary Lara Hardesty. It has materials that will be helpful for troops to plan and do activities at camp.

The reunion was well attended and it was great to see old friends and make new ones. We hope to see everyone next time - September 18-20, 2026!

Facilities & Amenities
Lookout Unit 
Seven tent platforms (sleeps 4 each), water spigot, main bath house, fire circle, and shelter.
Each tent has four cots and mattresses. Each tent sleeps four campers. Tents do not include bedding. Campers must bring their own pillow, sheets, blanket and/or sleeping bag.
The shelter has electric, picnic tables and benches.
The main bath house has four private shower stalls and four private toilet stalls. It also has two accessible stalls with shower, toilet and sink. This building serves as the camps storm shelter during inclement weather. The main bath house is available to all campers. You are responsible for cleaning the bath house after usage.

Whippoorwill Bunkhouse Unit
CIT Unit
Six tent platforms (sleeps 4 each), fire circle, water spigot, Bath house with three bathrooms with showers, kitchenette and shelter.
Each tent has four cots and mattresses. Each tent sleeps four camper. Tents do not include bedding. Campers must bring their own pillow, sheets, blanket and/or sleeping bag.
The shelter has electric, picnic tables and benches.
Bath house includes three individual bathrooms with toilet, shower, and sink. One of the bathrooms is accessible. The kitchen is attached to the bath house and includes a stove, refrigerator, microwave, and sink. Cooking utensils not included. Please bring your own utensils.

Keeneland Bunkhouse Unit
Three Cabins (two cabins sleep 8 each and one cabin the sleeps 10), water spigot, fire circle, shelter, and latrines.
Each cabin has four bunkbeds and sleep eight each. One of the cabins has an additional room for the leaders. The leaders room is located in the back of the cabin and has one bunkbed that sleeps two. A refrigerator and microwave are included in the leaders room. Each cabin has electricity and is heated by wall heaters and cooled by floor fans.
The shelter has electric, picnic tables and benches. There is a brick fireplace in the shelter that can be used for cooking meals.
The latrines are your bathroom facility for this unit but you are welcome to use the bath house from April through October.

ABC Lodge
Lodge with kitchen, bathroom & shower, leader’s room, open area, and air conditioning.
Lodge includes an open area for eating and sleeping. The open area includes mattresses and a small table with chairs. The leaders room has a cot with mattress. Bedding is not included. Campers must bring their own pillow, sheets, blanket and/or sleeping bag. The unit has one bathroom with toilet, shower and sink. A small kitchen area is included with refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, two sinks, and cooking utensils and some dishes.

Climbing Tower

Dining Hall and Kitchen
Large open space with stone fireplace. The dining hall is heated by the fireplace and cooled by ceiling and vent fans. Equipped with fold out tables and benches. Includes bowls, plates, cups, and utensils. The dining hall can serve up to 120 at one time. Two new handicap accessible bathrooms!
Large industrial kitchen equipped with walk in cooler, large prep area, and cooking equipment. Includes a bathroom in the back with toilet and handwashing sink.

Hiking trails (please check with us to see which ones are open), archery, amphitheater, Thicket Theater, jumping pillow, and canoeing. Some of the activities require certified facilitators. Please remember these amenities are for everyone at camp and must be shared. For more information contact the Camp Team camp@gswrc.org.
The listed activities are free to all campers except for canoing and archery. You must have a certified facilitator for canoing and archery.
