Girl Scouts enjoy a variety of activities that are fun, educational and safe. Troop activities are based on the Girl Scout program, the age of the girl and the interest of the girls in the troop.
Make New Friends!
Girl Scouts provides girls with the opportunity to meet and interact with girls outside their own classroom, school and community. When surveyed girls mention “friendships” as the best part of Girl Scouts!
Badges, Charms, Patches and Pins
Girls will learn many new skills in a variety of interest areas, including science, arts, citizenship, getting along with others, math, nutrition, fitness, ecology and nature. Badges are earned awards worn on the front of the Girl Scout vest or sash. Fun patches are usually awarded for participation in an activity or event and are worn on the back of the vest or sash.
Troops plan field trips and may attend local and council sponsored events, such as space camp, museum overnights, holiday and special event celebrations, theater productions, and sports events.
Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council offers exciting adventure programs for girls, including horseback riding, rock climbing, rappelling, sailing and a zip line. Troops may choose to plan a picnic, hike or camp at one of our four Girl Scout camps. Day camps and resident camps are also available during the summer.
Troops plan a variety of service projects to benefit their local neighborhoods and communities as well as participate in council-sponsored activities. Girl Scouts collect coats and jackets during a recent One Warm Coat service project. Serving is one of the cornerstones to the Girl Scouts
