Outdoor Education Series

Girl Scouts of Kentucky's Wilderness Road has a series of courses that are designed to prepare leaders to take their troops on an outdoor experience. Activities in an outdoor setting help girls understand the importance of conserving and improving the environment as well as protecting wildlife. Camping with girls is an exciting adventure that can help to develop leadership skills and teamwork and perhaps awaken a life-long love of the outdoors!

  • Outdoor education is required in Kentucky’s Wilderness Road for volunteers taking troops/groups to day programs and overnight camping. The outdoor series is based on the concept of progression.  In each aspect of outdoor activities, begin where the girls (and you) feel comfortable.
  • Before attending “Out and About “ OR “Troop Camp Certification”, you must complete the three outdoor education online courses.
