An investiture ceremony symbolizes the beginning of Girl Scouting. At this ceremony, families are invited to observe girls pledge the Girl Scout Promise and receive their Daisy Girl Scout Pin as well as the World Trefoil Pin. A Girl Scout Daisy often wears her uniform for the first time at the investiture ceremony. . Here is a sample investiture ceremony but remember you and the girls can plan your ceremony any way you want! You can go on the internet and find lots of ideas to make your ceremony special.

Girls stand in a horseshoe formation. You may have a flag ceremony first if you choose.

Sing: “Make New Friends”

Leader: (Suggested, you may use your own words)

Welcome to our Daisy Investiture. Today we will welcome our Girl Scout Daisies into the world of Girl Scouting. We hope this in only the beginning of many years of fun and enjoyment for them. First we will present each Daisy with her Daisy pin.

Present pins to Daisies, welcome them to Girl Scouting and do the Girl Scout handshake. (Remember place the pin upside down!)

Leader: Now we will all say the Girl Scout Promise together.

On my honor, I will try
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

Leader: The girls want to show you what being a Daisy means to them.

Each girl holds up the letter she made and says what it stands for. Leaders may held as needed:

D is for DOING. We do lots of new things

A is for ACTION. Daisies are always on the go.

I is for INTEREST. We are interested in everything.

S is for SUPER. Daisies are great.

I is for IMPORTANT. We are important

E is for ENERGY. We never run out

S is for SHOW. Show us how we can do it

You can use the word “Daisy” if you have fewer girls, or “Daisy Girl Scout(s) if you have more girls.

Leader: To help welcome our Daisies we have Beginning Certificates for them. Present certificates.

Leader: For our closing we would like to have you join us in our friendship circle and sing with us. Teach the guest(s) the song you’ve chosen, form a friendship circle and sing together.
