How the Cookie Crumbles

The Girl Scout Cookie Sale provides a real-life environment in which to live out the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Girls receive direct and indirect benefits from the Girl Scout Cookie Sale.

The Cookie Sale has two purposes

1.      to provide an educational experience for the girls and

2.      to raise funds for the troops and the programs and services provided by Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council.

1.      Educational Opportunities - Through Girl Scouting, girls become leaders in their daily lives and prepare for their bright futures!  The Girl Scout Cookie Program provides an important ingredient for leadership by helping girls develop five key skills: Goal Setting, Decision Making, Money Management, People Skills and Business Ethics.

2.      Financial Opportunities - Girls benefit through troop profit, which allows troops to purchase badges, participate in events and activities and provide materials for the girls. Proceeds from the Girl Scout Cookie Sale subsidize a wide range of Girl Scout activities in which girls, troops and adult volunteers participate.  Without the revenue from the Cookie Sale, the Council would be unable to provide the quality materials and experiences that leaders have come to expect.  The selling price makes it possible for Girl Scouts of Kentucky’s Wilderness Road Council to maintain its current level of service.
